Pecans are a rich and buttery flavoured nut – a species of hickory tree which is native to southern North America. Pecans are high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are considered healthy fats! They are also a good source of oleic acid, Vitamin E and B1, thiamin and magnesium. 1 ounce is equivalent to 10% of the recommended daily fibre intake!
Organic raw pecan halves are ideal for baking or home roasting, or they can be enjoyed plain as a snack. They are excellent when sprinkled on salads, in stir-fry recipes, or other meat and vegetable dishes.
Pecans should be stored in a cool, dry location, away from odours, for an estimated shelf of 6 months. To extend shelf life recommended storage temperature is under 55°F.
